She followed her dream as a young girl growing up in a small rural village in China.

As a teenager, she began learning Taiji and traveled to Beijing to study under Taiji masters at the Temple of Heaven.

Her dream led her to Wudang Mountain, where she learned the 36-form “Wudang Taiji.” In 2009, she won an international Taiji competition.

Her final Taiji teacher, Master Zhang Yongliang (張永良師傅, 1920–2020), was a noted but very private Taiji master who taught in one of the many parks in Beijing. She met him through a friend in Beijing and continued studying under him, becoming a recognized student.

Master Zhang encouraged her to teach others, helping them experience the benefits of traditional Chinese internal Gongfu combined with meditation, thus promoting physical and mental health through Taiji practice.

In the background, a class of students is learning Chinese language, with Shifu Gong leading them through Taiji practice as part of the course, exposing them to Chinese physical culture.

The 24-step form, commonly used as an introduction to Taiji, contains many of the essential elements and is a starting point for many in their formal practice of Taiji.
